Oprah<br \/>\nasked her what she thought of growing older. And, there on television, she<br \/>\nsaid it was &#8220;exciting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/shawnna.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2005\/09\/MayaAngelo.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/shawnna.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2005\/09\/MayaAngelo.jpg?resize=144%2C144&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" title=\"MayaAngelo\" width=\"144\" height=\"144\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1894\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every<br \/>\nday&#8230;like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach<br \/>\nher waist, first. The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a<br \/>\nsimple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!<\/p>\n<p>Maya Angelou said this: &#8220;I&apos;ve learned that no matter what happens, or how<br \/>\nbad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.&#8221; &#8220;I&apos;ve<br \/>\nlearned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he\/she handles<br \/>\nthese three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree<br \/>\nlights.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&apos;ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents,<br \/>\nyou&apos;ll miss them when they&apos;re gone from your life.&#8221; &#8220;I&apos;ve learned that<br \/>\nmaking a &#8220;living&#8221; is not the same thing as &#8220;making a life.&#8221; &#8220;I&apos;ve learned<br \/>\nthat life sometimes gives you a second chance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&apos;ve learned that you shouldn&apos;t go through life with a catcher&apos;s mitt on<br \/>\nboth hands; you need to be able to throw some things back.&#8221; &#8220;I&apos;ve learned<br \/>\nthat whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the<br \/>\nright decision.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&apos;ve learned that even when I have pains, I don&apos;t have to be one.&#8221; &#8220;I&apos;ve<br \/>\nlearned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love<br \/>\na warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&apos;ve learned that I still have a lot to learn.&#8221; &#8220;I&apos;ve learned that people<br \/>\nwill forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will<br \/>\nnever forget how you made them feel.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday.
