Obama’s oligarchy (or how I lost all faith in the Democratic party)
When I voted for President Obama in 2008, I had such high hopes. His rhetoric of ‘change’ resonated deeply within.
Unfortunately he has sold out – just like the majority of politicians. For a very thoughtful article that clearly illustrates this, please read this:

From now on I will only vote for those candidates who espouse a political platform consistent with my personal values. Those are:
- Economic justice and equality for all; not just those in positions of political or financial power. This requires a minimum wage that can actually support a family and equal pay for equal work, regardless of gender, age, race or sexual orientation.
- Access to health care is a fundamental right of all who live within our midst; not just those who are fortunate enough to work for an employer that providers health coverage, or who can afford to buy insurance on their own
- Public service is an honor to be bestowed only on those who prove worthy of the public trust. Eliminate corporate money from all politics, eliminate the revolving door between Wall Street and administrative positions within both state and federal government, install term limits for all, especially the federal House and Senate.
- Eliminate the Federal Reserve and install a robust public banking system so we aren’t beholden to private banksters who have destroyed our economy.
- Education of all within our midst is vital to the evolution of our society. Provide publicly funded education from kindergarten through college for all.
- War kills more than just physical bodies. It is destructive to the Spirit of all involved and should only be used as a last resort. Eliminate the military industrial complex and reduce spending on the military.
Those are just the few I can think of right now. I will add to this as I can.
At this point, the only political party that espouses a platform consistent with my values is the Green Party.
