You (me!) and Our Government
We speak of “the government” as if it’s some sort of entity ‘out there’. The government is US. We have only ourselves to blame for the dysfunction and corruption.
When was the last time you did anything other than write a rant-like comment on Facebook?
When have you sat your family down and explained to them what is REALLY going on in our society?
When have you protested with Occupy workers against the obvious corruption in both the government and financial industry?
Do you avoid having ‘political’ conversations with your coworkers because it makes you, and them, uncomfortable?
Think about what it is YOU need to do to engage and change things. The complacency and apathy amongst the majority of Americans is truly appalling. We’ve got the government we deserve.
But there is hope.
We’re in a new era of enlightenment and I’m optimistic that those who go through life unconscious won’t be able to do that for much longer.
Once a critical mass wakes up, we have a good shot at changing things.
