My motorcycle accident

Posted on July 23, 2006 by shawnnaFebruary 1, 2019

Let’s see, my right hand is broken, my left thumb is broken, my body is black and blue and I still want to ride.

After selling the way-too-big Road King, and riding my Honda Rebel beginner bike for a season, I sold the Honda and bought a perfect Harley Sportster.

The first day I rode the Sportster to work, while riding home, a small nissan truck lost control on the freeway and doing donuts across all four lanes, ended up in my lane and I ended up down and underneath his truck.

I don’t remember many of the details – my mind has always blocked unpleasant memories – which has been a real blessing. But the bottom line is my new 2006 Harley Sportster is sitting in my garage damaged. Here’s some pics.

And I’ve hired an attorney to sort out insurance issues and liability. The police report is clear that the driver of the nissan truck was 100% at fault. Problem is he’s 21 years old and the insurance on the truck was not in his name (most likely his father’s). That insurance company is saying “coverage doesn’t look good”.

Anyway…… I love to ride………………… but will I be able to overcome my fear once my bike is fixed?

Ryan’s graduation – June 17, 2006

Posted on July 5, 2006 by shawnnaAugust 3, 2012

This is a little bit late but been busy.

Ryan’s graduation was June 17, 2006. Mark flew in and we had a wonderful time together. Since Father’s day was the following Sunday, he was here for Father’s Day – the first time we had Father’s Day with him since 1988. Whew…. how time flies.

Here a pic!

Ryan’s Graduation Trip to NYC – Phantom of the Opera!

Posted on June 14, 2006 by shawnnaAugust 3, 2012

I posted pics of Ryan's graduation trip to NY before but didn't size the photos right so here they are again.

We had a great time! That said, I would never want to live there. Compared to Seattle, it felt like a rat cage. Sorry to anyone from NY!

The Phantom of the Opera was WONDERFUL!!

Being in Times Square made me feel like I was IN the “Matrix”??

Ryan really likes Times Square!

And amazingly enough, NY did have a street fair!

Grants tomb!

This is the building used in The Ghostbuster's movie!

We took a carriage ride in Central Park and the building in the background is the Dakota – where John Lennon was murdered.

Another shot of the Dakota building.

The carriage ride in Central Park.

This is a beautiful tree in Central Park – I think it was a Magnolia tree.

And after feeling like I was IN the matrix – to be in Central Park was wonderful.

This is the world famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem.

What is left of the World Trade Center – through a fence.

Another WTC photos.

And this was the saddest – WTC ruins.

Here's the Statue of Liberty from top of the Empire State Building.

And another one of the Statue of Liberty.

Matt – My Son

Posted on May 25, 2006 by shawnnaMay 25, 2006

From Matt, my son on 05/24/2006 01:02 AM
Subject – Birthday and other thoughts…

I’m really sorry I blew it on mothers day and your birthday. Please know that it is nothing more then a function of circumstance in my life now. You also should know that I thank God every night, for blessing me with you.

You have shown me so much love and support the past couple of years, where other mothers I know would have been less then nurturing, you are offering to put ads in the paper about the films, fix my laptop, and are letting me live rent free, because you love me and want me to follow my dreams.

I will never ever forget the positive influence you have had in my life, and I will pass along the tradition to my children.

You have taught me so much, and I hope you remember I love you very much.

Thanks mom, for EVERYTHING.

I promise one day I will make it all up you.

Ten Secrets to Success

Posted on April 29, 2006 by shawnnaApril 29, 2006

Have a Mind That is Open to Everything and Attached to Nothing

Don't Die With Your Music Still In You

You Can't Give Away What You Don't Have

Embrace Silence

Give Up Your Personal History

You Can't Solve a Problem With The Same Mind That Created It

There Are No Justified Resentments

Treat Yourself As If You Already Are What You'd Like To Be

Treasure Your Divinity

Wisdom Is Avoiding All Thoughts That Weaken You

All of this is nothing more than a conscious decision on your part to be in charge of your thinking. Be aware at any given moment in your life that you always have a choice about the thoughts you allow into your mind.

The most empowering thoughts you can have are those of peace, joy, love, acceptance, and willingness. Powerful, joyful, loving thoughts stem from your willingness to allow the world to be as it is.

It is your choice.

The Celestine Prophecy's Nine Insights

Posted on April 22, 2006 by shawnnaMarch 10, 2012

I read this book when it first came out years ago. It resonated quite deeply.

The Nine Insights of The Celestine Prophecy

1. We are discovering again that we live in a deeply mysterious world, full of sudden coincidences and synchronistic encounters that seem destined.

2. As more of us awaken to this mystery, we will create a completely new worldview – redefining the universe as energetic and sacred.

3. We will discover that everything around us, all matter, consists of and stems from a divine energy that we are beginning to see and understand.

4. From this perspective, we can see that humans have always felt insecure and disconnected from this sacred source, and have tried to take energy by dominating each other. This struggle is responsible for all human conflict.

5. The only solution is to cultivate a personal reconnection with the divine, a mystical transformation that fills us with unlimited energy and love, extends our perception of beauty, and lifts us into a Higher-Self Awareness.

6. In this awareness, we can release our own pattern of controlling, and discover a specific truth, a mission, we are here to share that helps evolve humanity toward this new level of reality.

7. In pursuit of this mission, we can discover an inner intuition that shows us where to go and what to do, and if we make only positive interpretations, brings a flow of coincidences that opens the doors for our mission to unfold.

8. When enough of us enter this evolutionary flow, always giving energy to the higher-self of everyone we meet, we will build a new culture where our bodies evolve to ever higher levels of energy and perception.

9. In this way, we participate in the long journey of evolution from the Big Bang to life's ultimate goal: to energize our bodies, generation by generation, until we walk into a heaven we can finally see.

Why?

Posted on April 20, 2006 by shawnnaApril 20, 2006

I'm so exhausted. I just don't understand why this black cloud over my head won't leave – Lent is OVER already.

Here's a high level summary of the bs I've been dealing with for the last couple of months:

1. People I've trusted have shown themselves to be less than honorable and trustworthy. For someone like me who always trusts people first, this is devastating.
2. The BMW was in an accident and is NOT fixed yet.
3. The Jetta was in an accident and the $ amount to fix the car it hit (Miles' car) is more than I can afford to pay out of pocket so another auto claim is filed that we are at fault for.
4. Ryan had a seizure and landed head first on cement. Cat scan, x-rays and 8 stitches later and I don't know if he learned a lesson or not.
5. I've slept a grand total of 7 hours in the last 48 hours – and I get very cranky when I'm this tired.
6. Ryan's very expensive computer is STILL not fixed. After a new mother board and power supply and two bozos supplied by the company (bought extended warranty) – we are finally being asked to send the whole damn thing BACK to Alienware for repair. I HATE COMPUTER PROBLEMS AND PC'S ARE NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS.
7. Today when I went to the pharmacy to get Ryan's medication, a young man in a 1972 VW bug hit me when I was on the way home. The mercedes is one tough car BUT I'm afraid that because parts are so hard to find and when found, are so expensive, his insurance company may very well total the car.

NOTE – All 3 of my cars have now been involved in an accident in the last month.

yikes….. I don't think I'll attempt anything that involves a physical risk with luck like I've been having.

Rewriting The Science
March 19, 2006
(CBS) As a government scientist, James Hansen is taking a risk. He says there are things the White House doesn't want you to hear but he's going to say them anyway.

Hansen is arguably the world's leading researcher on global warming. He's the head of NASA's top institute studying the climate. But this imminent scientist tells correspondent Scott Pelley that the Bush administration is restricting who he can talk to and editing what he can say. Politicians, he says, are rewriting the science.

But he didn't hold back speaking to Pelley, telling 60 Minutes what he knows.

Asked if he believes the administration is censoring what he can say to the public, Hansen says: “Or they're censoring whether or not I can say it. I mean, I say what I believe if I'm allowed to say it.”

What James Hansen believes is that global warming is accelerating. He points to the melting arctic and to Antarctica, where new data show massive losses of ice to the sea.
