No emotional intimacy = no physical chemistry, for me at least

Posted on February 12, 2008 by shawnnaFebruary 12, 2008

Feeling emotionally connected to someone is such a powerful feeling.  Combine that with a spiritual connection and the physical chemistry – for me – is intense.

Take one or the other away and the ‘need’ to connect physically disappears.   That can be a good thing if the ‘other’ is feigning depth.

So many Lessons……

Stitches out – cast on

Posted on February 7, 2008 by shawnnaFebruary 7, 2008

The stitches in my hand were removed yesterday and a regular cast took the place of the temporary splint.

As hard as this is for me to admit – I do not like the idea of being constrained in any way. Feels somewhat claustrophobic having this cast.

Weird…..

This is the first time in my entire life I’ve ever experienced having a cast – hard to believe isn’t it?

Three weeks from today it will come off and then I’ll be given some rehab exercises to do to bring it back to normal.

Just in time for spring.

Integrity or common courtesy?

Posted on February 3, 2008 by shawnnaFebruary 3, 2008

When someone says they are going to do something and they don’t, does it reflect their lack of integrity or are they simply lacking in common courtesy?

Or maybe it’s something else?

*shrugs*

I have always felt it important to treat others as I would want to be treated. If I tell someone I’m going to do something, I do it. If a complication occurs or for some other unforeseen reason I am unable to do what I said, I always let them know as soon as possible what happened – and preface it with a heartfelt apology.

It’s probably why I can count my true friends on one hand. I simply have no interest in people who can’t seem to understand the importance of walking their talk.

And I especially have no interest in those who talk a good line and never follow through.

My sons are my legacy……

Posted on January 31, 2008 by shawnnaJanuary 31, 2008

So many are not aware of how they define themselves – it is quite surprising actually.

Granted, we are a complex species. Hopefully with some quiet time reflecting, we can all identify what we are most proud of and how we want to be remembered. For me, I never wanted anything more than to be a companion to my soul mate and a mother. I have only found fulfillment at the latter to date. My career, my hobbies, everything I do is meaningless if it doesn’t support who I am first and foremost.

I am Matt and Ryan’s mother; both are wonderful, compassionate, sensitive and caring! Both are also very self-aware.

They are my legacy.

Matt is struggling right now with his own path – it is so hard to see your son struggle with inner demons you’ve struggled with yourself. I’ve learned that it is the struggle that matters most. How we face adversity reflects our character.

I’m proud of the man Matt is today – and confident that as he deepens his own self-awareness – he will bring so much Light to the world!

Matt’s Journal

Ryan will too, but via his own separate and unique path.

My Spiritual Journey – and why I needed a little help

Posted on January 29, 2008 by shawnnaJanuary 29, 2008

I have created a new category called “Spiritual Journey” as that is really what this whole blog reflects.

I’m sure there’s a post here somewhere describing the very odd path I’ve ventured on thus far so I won’t go there again just yet.

What I would like to share in this first “Spiritual Journey” solo post is my heartfelt gratitude for my ‘guide’ and mentor – both formally for over 10 years and more informally of late.

“Pheo Rose” is a mystic. Her spiritual gifts are many but music is her calling. She has now published a few CD’s that I encourage you to sample here. Take a moment to read her bio – she is the most humble and authentic Soul I have ever known.

Mystic Rose Music

In my next few posts, I will share a little about my own Spiritual Journey with “Pheo Rose” as my mentor and guide. For so many years her loving Spirit embraced mine as I struggled to find my Way. This image is perfect.

Swollen hand means we had to cut the splint open to relieve the pressure…….

Posted on January 29, 2008 by shawnnaJanuary 29, 2008

The surgeon told me before I went into the operating room that in 20% of the cases, the swelling makes the splint VERY uncomfortable. He said most go to the ER and all they do is cut open the splint (he showed me where and how) and that anyone can do it.

Am grateful for the insight as I ended up in the 20%. Matt cut open the splint part way and the surgeon’s office told me today (Tuesday) to cut it all the way open so am waiting for Matt to come home to do that (Ryan is visiting his dad in Texas). Am going to go back to wok tomorrow – don’t have a clue how I will do my hair…….

I probably won’t be there all day as typing is exhausting and I’m suppose to keep the hand elevated. We’ll see…….

Thank you for your prayers and positive thoughts – it has helped the healing!

Surgery update

Posted on January 27, 2008 by shawnnaJanuary 27, 2008

The 2006 motorcycle accident damaged my hands – particularly my right hand. At the time, the hand specialist didn’t feel surgery was nesessary but said if I had problems, we may need to reevaluate. Of course this past summer’s deck building and teak furniture refinishing project didn’t help.

A small cyst emerged on the underside of my wrist and was putting pressure on the hand nerves. All of this combined resulted in hand surgery last Thursday (January 24, 2008). The surgeon is one of the best in Seattle – he did a pantrapezial arthroscopy using a tendon segment from my arm, removed the cysts and scraped a bone fragment from my little finger base area. Splint is on right now and am trying to avoid the pain meds (they make me groggy).   Stitches come out in 10 days and than a cast for 5 weeks.

I had planned to go back to work tomorrow but think I need one more day……..

Keep the candles lit and prayers coming please.

Control and cutting the ties that bind – today's horoscrope is spot on

Posted on January 23, 2008 by shawnnaJanuary 23, 2008

geminitwinsimage.jpeg

You might feel as if a powerful person is pulling your strings and, marionette-like, you have no choice but to respond. You could get quite entangled if you resist, until you feel so tied up that your freedom is limited.

Fortunately, there is more going on than meets the eye. You actually have control, yet may be afraid of accepting responsibility for your actions. Once you see how you have helped to create the current restrictions, making the necessary changes will be much easier.

January 23, 2008

In order to make the changes necessary, I must ignore my heart and do what intellectually is the best course of action in this situation. Ignoring my heart is never something I’ve intentionally done.

As I’ve written here, The Only Path Toward Spiritual Consciousness is Through the Heart.

*sigh*

Would ignoring what’s in my heart lead another to what is in theirs?   And isn’t that what reflecting Love is all about?

Obviously much to reflect on as I prepare for surgery tomorrow.   Candles lit and my battalion of angels are in the wings.

Integrity revisited

Posted on January 21, 2008 by shawnnaJanuary 21, 2008

My recent experience with someone who more than once has said one thing and then done another has prompted me to revisit the idea of personal integrity. From this post last October, my sister made a very insightful comment I have been reflecting on.

Never make someone a priority in your life, when you are clearly just an option in theirs.
